Neurophilosophy

Understanding the human condition involves a complex interplay among inputs from our three major sources of access to who we are: philosophy, psychology and the neurosciences.   Each of these three disciplines has a unique perspective on human functioning that offers insights that cannot be obtained through the other two.  Philosophy offers a broad view of the human condition that highlights general questions about being in the world.  Psychology investigates human behavior and explores the conflicts we experience in the things we do.  The neurosciences study the brain and body structures that make our actions possible.  Each discipline establishes parameters that ought to constrain the constructs and concepts developed within the other two.  The Venn diagram at the top of this section illustrates the shared interface within the three disciplines.
